Biography
Russ Casey believes that perhaps the most important way that 'We the People' can be involved in our government is through service to our community and our parties. Russ has been a leader in the community and a dedicated Republican working in grassroots efforts and community service. Russ has served in the following capacities:
- City of Hurst Traffic Safety Commission
- Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD District Level Improvement Committee
- Executive Vice President/Program Director for the Northeast Tarrant County Republicans
- Vice President for the Tarrant County Young Republicans
- Served as an Election Judge
- Served as a Republican Representative on the Tarrant County Signature Verification Committee
- Delegate to the Republican Party of Texas State Convention
- Served on the Credentials Committee for the Republican Senate District 12 Convention
- Member of the Republican Assembly and the Arlington Republican Club
- Active volunteer in many federal, state, and local campaigns
One of the activities he is most proud of is his work in voter registration. "It was really remarkable how many people are either not registered to vote or have not kept their registration current. We felt that voter turnout would be a huge factor in the presidential election, and it turned out that it was. My most cherished memory from the 2004 election is the work we did in registering Vietnamese-Americans. These fellow citizens have such a sense of patriotism, and no one had ever really reached out to them here in Tarrant County. They immediately identified with our family values and conservative principles, and I am proud to say that I helped many of them join the ranks of the Republican Party."
Tarrant County proved to be bastion of Republican strength in the 2004 election, and had the largest net vote for President Bush in Texas, as well as the second largest net vote for President Bush in the country. "I am proud of the small part that I played in that. There were so many people who did so much here. The success of Tarrant County is a great tribute to the people who do the grassroots work."
